Enrolment

Public preschools enrol children for one year only, in the year before they start school.

Children can enrol from the beginning of the school year if they turn 4 years of age before 31 July that year.

Enrolment priority

Unlike NSW public schools, there are no enrolment boundaries for public preschools. Enrolment is on application only. Preschool places are offered following the Department of Education guidelines, with priority given to:

Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children
children living in low socio-economic circumstances
children unable to access other early childhood settings due to disadvantage or financial hardship.

Following the priority groups listed above, enrolment offers will be made in the following order:

children living within the school's enrolment intake area
children living outside the school's enrolment intake area and who have siblings enrolled at the school
children living outside the school's enrolment intake area.

Applying to enrol at our preschool

Families wanting to enrol their child should contact Ashcroft Public School directly for more information.

Families can express interest in enrolling their child by completing and submitting to the school an Expression of interest to enrol in a NSW public preschool (PDF 911 KB).

Families offered a place for their child will be asked to complete the Application to enrol in a NSW public preschool (PDF 713 KB) and supply supporting documentary evidence.

Enrolment in one of our preschool classes does not guarantee a place in Kindergarten at our school. Families can use School Finder to find their local public school.
